This washing machine was designed to make loading and unloading washing. It’s rotating drum means washing can be loaded in at an upright position, when the cycle is complete it can be rotated, down, allowing the heavy damp clothes to fall directly into a washing basket that can be placed under the drum.





The drum can be rotated using the touch screen control on the right, or manually with the handle on the left. This is a response to many people manually rotating the drum to check for any stray washing.

This project began in groups, as an ergonomic investigation into the task of laundry. This included a video analysis, journey mapping and using ergonomic modeling. After identifying key issues, we then individually designed a product to address these needs.
Pain points discovered included; pulling heavy washing out of the drum, lack of vision into the drum, awkward positions when using the basket and the door
